Anne Marte Eggen is a Norwegian bass player, composer and music producer based in Malmö, Sweden.

She is the driving force, composer and lyricist behind the progressive pop/jazz band We Float, awarded with the Swedish Public Radio’s Jazz Award 2018, in the category “Group of the Year”.

With a broad interest in different music styles she is frequently engaged in a wide range of bands and projects.

"Underneath and at the heart of it all is the bloodstream, supplying oxygen and nourishment to the musical body. That is Eggen’s bass. Fascinating—truly remarkable. I had to stop and rewind the CD, listen one more time specifically to her bass playing. Eggen has written herself into the music. She takes space, but without taking space from the others. She bubbles electrically and whispers acoustically. Whatever the setting, she plays at the center, yet without dominating." - Bengt Eriksson, Lira musikmagasin

Decide of composing and arranging the music for We Float she writes and produces for other projects - both on her own and in collaboration with other song writers.

Anne Marte Eggen was educated att the Malmö Academy of Music and Fridhems folkhögskola.

"Ellen Andrea Wang has already shown us that female bassists should never be underestimated. Anne Marte Eggen definitely confirms that here together with We Float. Now it is high time that she gets to show herself here at home as well – the Swedes can’t be allowed to run off with her and her music that easily." - Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen

“The whole building and the beautiful, ornate melodies rest in the arms of the sounds and the solemn romantic moods. (…) The music has been made with precision and an ear for details. Behind music, lyrics and arrangements stands the bassist Anne Marte Eggen and her consistent way of implementing her vision is impressive.” - Alexander Agrell, Sydsvenskan

"Eggen offers gentle tones with stylish solos as well as driving, swinging accompaniment. Her sensitivity and beautiful solo passages make me think of Steve Swallow’s restrained playing." – Andreas Backelund, Lira musikmagasin
